On the 25th March, ASP joined aviation organisations from across the nation at the 10th YES annual Aviation Education Conference at Brooklands Museum in Surrey. We also sponsored this year’s event, as we believe that opportunities to work together for the benefit of young people and the aviation industry are invaluable.

The focus for this year’s event was ‘How aviation can engage youth’. There were talks from a variety of organisations from many different sectors of aviation, each with their own angle on youth engagement. There were speakers from more recreational organisations such as The Joystick Club, through to the career-focused talk from the RAF recruiting team. The day even took a technological turn as Rob Barsby talked about the Air League Youth Aviation app and the way that social media can engage youth.

We’re proud to have been represented at the event by one of our excellent ambassadors: Ben Russell. Ben gave a talk on our Aircrew Career Pathways, while CEO Simon Witts gave an enlightening overview of our plans and activities.

Louie Trott, also in attendance, said “I believe that the continuing work from Aviation skills partnership, will help the younger generation to get into aviation. From the conference the main point I took away was that; in the face of adversity you should always pursue a hankering for aviation.'”
