A Novel Learning and Skills Zone by Aviation Skills Partnership for Helitech International 2015

Aviation Skills Partnership will be bringing a custom version of its Aviation Skills Zone (ASZ) concept to Helitech International 2015 for the first time as a full partner to the exhibitors.

First launched at Farnborough International Air Show in July 2014, the ASZ is an open format area bringing together and showcasing the organisations that are working in the aviation sector to shape the pathways into the industry and the opportunities for people who wish to join it.

At Helitech's new Learning & Skills Zone, ASP has brought together over 40 organisations who are involved in its Inspire(TM) Connect(TM), Train(TM) and Achieve(TM) areas across the country - many appearing for the first time here.

The centrepiece is a Guimbal Cabri G2 state-of-the-art training helicopter from Helicentre Aviation, showcasing the partnership that has brought the world's first integrated helicopter pilot university Honours degree, for academic pilot training.

We are fortunate to have one of the latest Air Cadet simulators - a superb, up to the minute learning tool, that forms one of many that the 47,000 civil and military air cadets across the country can access through their 947 squadrons. All are keen to play their part in the growth in the industry and helping to solve the shortage of people coming into the economically essential, aviation sector.

Over 150 budding helicopter industry hopefuls will be attending the show through ASP's partnerships activity with schools, UTC's, Academies, colleges and universities and also attending the seminars in the Skills Theatre. On Day 2, ASP are also inaugurating their Aviation Skills Awards with the announcements of the first winners in this initiative which was launched in 2014 with inspiring the future.

Speaking on the opening day, Amy Helm, Partnership Manager at ASP and one of the key members of the team that have worked hard behind the scenes to turn the concept into reality, said:

'I am immensely proud of the fact that we can now show people of all ages the skills opportunities and pathways available and provide clearer and more accessible pathways into the industry. Through growing our partnerships nationally and internationally and providing industry access through our Zones, it is exciting and rewarding to think that we are helping people to gain access to their chosen career'.
